This site is based on Jekyll Content Management System with Content Hosted on the Amazon Cloud.

This site is mostly an outlet for me to play with technology such as Content Management Systems, Cloud Technologies, CDNs, etc. such as the ones that power this site:

  • Content Management System: Jekyll
  • Site Look and Feel: Jekyll Theme - Minimal Mistakes
  • Website Comments: Disqus
  • Website Editor: Ulysses
  • Website Infrastructure: Amazon Web Services
    • S3: Content and Web Hosting
    • CloudFront: Accelerated Content Delivery Network
    • Route 53: Globally Distributed DNS Hosting
    • ACM: Automated TLS Certificate Management
    • more to follow
  • Version Control: GitLab

The technologies above should allow this site to load about as fast as I know how to make a website load, while costing very little - a couple of euros per month. I’ll be tweaking settings relating to compression and caching durations to further optimise speed.

I plan to add security configurations and features to this that will generate A ratings on security scanning website such as Qualys SSL Test and Mozilla’s Observatory testing tools - for fun and practice!

Current Scores 1:

  • Qualys SSL Labs Rating: A
achieved through “correct” configuration of Amazon Hosting
  • Mozilla Observatory: F
I need to work on this :) the solutions lie in content security policies and other HTTP security measures to protect from security vulnerabilities as outlined by OWASP.

I’ll post updates as I progress…
